今年五月我參加了一場工作坊,工作坊的題旨是從「檔案-田野」的角度,來探索「不合時宜的檔案」以及「自我檔案化」的實踐,欲通過各種形式的建檔、轉檔作為發聲與指認的姿態,來介入某種狀況的關注。過程中我透過在地圖上標示著自己生命經驗中重要的遷徙路線與事件,才驚覺原來我跟他是如此貼近,但又難以清楚的交代我迷戀他的理由,不過我知道這有關親身的參與,更勝於憑空的想像,或是單純的逃避。透過此展覽再度梳理當下被大伙慫恿鼓譟,臨時起意描繪的路線,原本魯蛇的罪惡感也隨牆上那些作品的完成悄悄抹去,而這趟回程重疊的路上所見風景或許平凡,但能與他以這樣的方式相遇,我感到浪漫不已。

「天使望鄉 Look homeward, Angel 」是美國文學家 Thomas Wolfe 的一部自傳式小說作品,敘述著孤單蝸居異國,沒有方向目的,少年式的清愁和迷惘,在一個個寂靜失眠的夜晚,懷念起遠方的家鄉。


I joined a workshop in May of this year. Its theme was to explore the practice of “untimely files” and “self-archiving” from the “archive-field” perspective. The method is to use various types of filing and file conversion as gestures of vocalization and identification to raise concern over certain situations. In the process, I marked the important migration routes and events in my life on the map, only to realize that I was so close to him, but that it was also difficult to explain clearly why I was obsessed with him. However, I know that personal participation is better than mere imagination or pure escapism. Through this exhibition, I sorted out the routes drawn under people’s urge . The original guilty feeling of a loser is quietly expunged by the works hanging on the wall. Moreover, the scenery seen on these overlapping roads may seem mundane, but to be able to meet him in this way is very romantic.

“Look homeward, Angel” is an autobiographical work by American novelist, Thomas Wolfe. It speaks of the life of a lonely young expatriate, listless without any direction in life, filled with youthful angst and confusion. And in each and every solitary sleepless night, he thought of his distant hometown.
